What an AMAZING time at this year’s Amazing Shake! 🎉👏
Round 2 had our students thinking on their feet as judges fired off real-world questions—testing confidence, communication, and quick thinking. 💬✨
Then came Round 3… the GAUNTLET! 💥
Students faced some fun (and challenging!) scenarios:
⚽ A heated moment in a soccer room where the ref made a questionable call
💼 A sales challenge where students had to pitch a product to a judge
☕ And a trip to the Skyhawk Café, where etiquette was on full display as students ordered snacks and practiced dining skills with others
We are SO proud of all our participants and especially want to give a huge shoutout to our Amazing Shake winners—you truly impressed us with your professionalism and poise! 🏆👏

🎗️ Red Ribbon Week: Making Good Choices! 🎗️
This week our school celebrated Red Ribbon Week, and we had so much fun learning about how to make good, healthy choices every day!
Each day we did a special activity to remind us how important it is to stay safe, be kind, and make smart decisions. We talked about taking care of our bodies, choosing healthy habits, and saying NO to drugs so we can grow strong and happy.
One of our favorite activities was using sidewalk chalk to spread kindness around our school! Students wrote positive messages and kind words to brighten everyone’s day. It was a colorful reminder that small choices—like being kind and encouraging others—can make a big difference.
Red Ribbon Week reminds us that good choices today help build a bright tomorrow. Keep being kind, stay healthy, and remember—you have the power to make great choices every day! 💛

The first round of The Amazing Shake was a big success! 🤝✨
This fun event gives students the chance to practice real-world social skills like confident handshakes, eye contact, and introducing themselves while speaking with community judges. Our students did an amazing job showing confidence, kindness, and great manners!
We are so proud of all of our Kinder–2nd grade winners from round one. 👏 We are also excited to see all the students who advanced to Round 2 show even more of their skills in the next round!

Mrs. Heidi and Mrs. Amy bring heart, fun, and encouragement to every student at Layon Elementary — and yes, they may have the most exciting room in the school! From a calming corner to exercise, art, fine motor stations, and even a cabinet full of kinetic sand, their space is built for kids to grow and thrive. 🎉
🐧 Mrs. Heidi loves penguins (she even fed them on her birthday!), concerts, making t-shirts for every occasion, camping with her family, and chocolate covered cinnamon bears.
🌎 Mrs. Amy is always up for adventure — off-roading, ziplining in Costa Rica, rope dropping Disneyland — and her favorite people are her hubby, kiddo, and nieces & nephews. Releasing baby sea turtles in Mexico is one of her most magical memories! 🐢🌊

📚🐛 Battle of the Books was one for the storybooks! 🐛📚
Our library was buzzing with bookworms as teams like the Rock and Roll Readers, All Stars, The Pizzas, Wicked Books, Dragon Flames, and Deep Sea Readers battled it out with their reading knowledge!
After an exciting competition, our Top 4 teams rose to the top:

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.
Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.
Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.
Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.
You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.
Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Buzzing with excitement at the annual Spelling Bee at Layton Elementary School! 🐝✨
Our brave spellers showed not only amazing vocabulary skills, but the courage it takes to stand on stage and try their best. Round by round, the competition narrowed to the Top 5 — and the energy was high! In the end, our Top 3 champions spelled their way to victory and proudly took home the trophies 🏆🎉

Our AMAZING Hope Squad is out at afternoon recess all week long playing fun HOPE games with everyone! 🙌 Normally we don’t encourage sticking our tongues out at our friends 😜… but when Hope Squad plays a friendly game of 🐸 Poison Dart Frog 🐸, everyone is on the lookout!

They were also busy at lunch passing out Life Savers 🍬 and reminding everyone that the very best way to be a life saver is simple — be kind. 💛 A smile, an invitation to play, or a kind word can make all the difference!

🌟 Mrs. Kaisha – Our Health Clerk Extraordinaire!
Mrs. Kaisha keeps our students safe and cared for every single day! When she’s not saving the day in the health room, you can find her enjoying chips and salsa, playing sports (🏐 volleyball is her FAVORITE!), and showing off her moves in ballroom dance! 💃
Fun fact: She does carpentry with her dad — how cool is that?! 🛠️ And the sweetest part? She gets to come to school every day with her FOUR kiddos who attend Layton Elementary! We love a super mom! ❤️
🌟 Mrs. Cindy – Our Office Superstar & Interpretation Pro!
Mrs. Cindy does all of our interpretation and keeps communication flowing for our families — we are so grateful for her! She loves everything soccer ⚽ (seriously, everything!), is an AMAZING cook, and her signature dish is Papa a la Huancaína! 👩🍳✨
She also has a sweet tooth for fruit tarts and loves listening to Jazz music 🎶
These incredible ladies keep our school running smoothly every day. We truly would be lost without them! 💙

Our after-school program leveled up thanks to the Lady Hawks! 🦅🙌 Twice a week for three weeks, they taught our students Futsal skills, teamwork, and how playing together makes everyone better 💪⚽️

🎃 Mrs. Berenson — Born on Halloween (nickname: Candy 🍬) with a maiden name of Batt! She’s lived in 3 states and 1 country as an Air Force spouse and brings big adventure energy to her classroom.
🍪📚 Mrs. Gallegos — Loves chocolate chip cookies, Wonka, dog walks, and audiobooks! She’s a proud mom of 3 and grandma to 4 grandbabies (all under 2!) 💕
🌊🍕 Mrs. Fluckiger — A whitewater rafting fan, animal lover, reads 2–3 books a week, and believes pizza is the perfect food (same!).

🕵️♂️✨ Zero to Hero: The Case of the Missing Zero! ✨🕵️♀️
Something mysterious happened on the 100th Day of School… our zero went missing! 😱 But our amazing students jumped into action, searching for clues all around the school to solve the case and track down the missing zero. The excitement was building all day as teamwork, problem-solving, and detective skills were put to the test!
And just when all hope seemed lost… 🎉 the missing zero was FOUND! With cheers, smiles, and lots of celebration, we finally completed our 100 — complete with the missing cookies! 🍪💯
What a fun-filled day of learning, mystery, and Zero-to-Hero magic!
