Spring magic is in full swing at recess! 🦋🌸 Layton has officially turned into our very own butterfly farm, with cozy little cocoons popping up all over the school. One by one, they’ve been waking up, stretching their wings, and joining us on the playground! These tiny fluttery friends have made recess extra special—some even sticking around to “play” with us like the cutest little classmates ever. 💛 Who knew recess could come with so much wingspan and wonder? For the past 6 years, she has been the heart, soul, and foundation of Layton. Her leadership, dedication, and genuine care for students and staff make our school such a special place to be. Meet the one and only Mrs. Willis 💕✨ Our Kindergarten Prep superstar has the biggest heart and a way of making every little learner feel right at home! From fun-filled PE games to imaginative art projects 🎨 and even helping kinders shine with their computer skills 💻—she truly does it all! Mrs. Willis is already part of the Layton Elementary family (times three! 😉), with all of her kids having attended here. And if you ask her, her favorite role of all is being grandma to her 3 littles—she says it’s the BEST thing ever! 🥰 When she’s not busy inspiring young minds, you can find her traveling, enjoying delicious food, or catching a good movie 🍿✈️🍴 We are so lucky to have such a fun, caring, and dedicated teacher shaping our future learners! 💛 @laytonelementaryschool @davisschooldistrict

Our 2nd graders had the COOLEST visit from some amazing friends at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium! 🐢🐛🦎 From creepy crawlers to turtle pals, our students got an up-close look at some incredible creatures while learning all about the rainforest. 🌿🌧️ They even practiced making rainforest sounds! 🐒🌴 So much curiosity, laughter, and hands-on learning happening all around! Tell me it’s Stuffy Day at Layton Elementary without telling me it’s Stuffy Day… 😂 Nothing like watching a kid confidently haul a GIANT stuffed animal across the crosswalk like it’s totally normal (and honestly, it should be). 🧸 Days like this are the best—it’s so fun seeing our kids with their stuffed animals and show them off like prized trophies. ✨ Shoutout to our incredible literacy coach, Mrs. Anderton! ✨ From supporting our teachers to inspiring our students, she brings so much heart (and fun!) into everything she does. When she’s not helping our little readers grow, you can probably find her enjoying time with her two kids, dreaming about her next Disneyland adventure, flipping through her favorite picture books, or sipping on a well-earned Dr. Pepper 🥤📚 We also want to celebrate our amazing SIPPS teachers, who work their magic every single day behind the scenes. Layton Elementary will be on Spring Break from Monday, March 30th through Friday, April 3rd. 🚒✨ Community Heroes in Action! ✨🚒 We had an AMAZING visit from the Layton City Fire Department and the Layton High School LITE Team (Layton Inspirational Teenage Educators)! 🙌 Our students learned so much about fire safety 🔥 and what to do in an emergency 🚨—from how to take care of a simple cut, to understanding when it’s time to call 911. But that’s not all… they also taught us how to be kind, think positively, and support one another 💛 Their message was clear and powerful: 👉 Be Kind 👉 Be Smart 👉 Be a Hero 👉 Be Safe We loved learning how to be better friends, take care of ourselves, and look out for others. What an AMAZING time at this year’s Amazing Shake! 🎉👏 Round 2 had our students thinking on their feet as judges fired off real-world questions—testing confidence, communication, and quick thinking. 💬✨ Then came Round 3… the GAUNTLET! 💥 Students faced some fun (and challenging!) scenarios: ⚽ A heated moment in a soccer room where the ref made a questionable call 💼 A sales challenge where students had to pitch a product to a judge ☕ And a trip to the Skyhawk Café, where etiquette was on full display as students ordered snacks and practiced dining skills with others We are SO proud of all our participants and especially want to give a huge shoutout to our Amazing Shake winners—you truly impressed us with your professionalism and poise! 🏆👏 A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible: Fidelity, Crumbl Cookie, DSD, Ogden Mustangs, Utah Grizzlies, Weber State, and First Community Bank. 🎗️ Red Ribbon Week: Making Good Choices! 🎗️ This week our school celebrated Red Ribbon Week, and we had so much fun learning about how to make good, healthy choices every day! Each day we did a special activity to remind us how important it is to stay safe, be kind, and make smart decisions. We talked about taking care of our bodies, choosing healthy habits, and saying NO to drugs so we can grow strong and happy. One of our favorite activities was using sidewalk chalk to spread kindness around our school! Students wrote positive messages and kind words to brighten everyone’s day. It was a colorful reminder that small choices—like being kind and encouraging others—can make a big difference. Red Ribbon Week reminds us that good choices today help build a bright tomorrow. The first round of The Amazing Shake was a big success! 🤝✨ This fun event gives students the chance to practice real-world social skills like confident handshakes, eye contact, and introducing themselves while speaking with community judges. Our students did an amazing job showing confidence, kindness, and great manners! 💙✨ Student Success Starts Here! ✨💙 Mrs. Heidi and Mrs. Amy bring heart, fun, and encouragement to every student at Layon Elementary — and yes, they may have the most exciting room in the school! From a calming corner to exercise, art, fine motor stations, and even a cabinet full of kinetic sand, their space is built for kids to grow and thrive. 🎉 🐧 Mrs. Heidi loves penguins (she even fed them on her birthday!), concerts, making t-shirts for every occasion, camping with her family, and chocolate covered cinnamon bears. 🌎 Mrs. Amy is always up for adventure — off-roading, ziplining in Costa Rica, rope dropping Disneyland — and her favorite people are her hubby, kiddo, and nieces & nephews. Releasing baby sea turtles in Mexico is one of her most magical memories! 🐢🌊 We are so lucky these two are cheering on our students every day! 💛 @laytonelementaryschool @davisschooldistrict

📚🐛 Battle of the Books was one for the storybooks! 🐛📚 Our library was buzzing with bookworms as teams like the Rock and Roll Readers, All Stars, The Pizzas, Wicked Books, Dragon Flames, and Deep Sea Readers battled it out with their reading knowledge! After an exciting competition, our Top 4 teams rose to the top: ✨ 3rd Grade – The Dazzling ⚡ 4th Grade – Lightning Readers 🔎 5th Grade – Google Is Our Friend And taking the championship title… 🏆📖 🌟 6th Grade – All Knoing! They’ll be heading to districts to represent our school, and we couldn’t be more proud. Our 4th grade dream team is seriously the best! 💙✨ So much heart, personality, and FUN all in one hallway! 🌺 Mrs. Prescott Loving fourth grade and loving life! She enjoys traveling (especially to Hawaii 🌴), cooking up something delicious, and spending time with her two boys. Her positive energy makes her classroom shine! 🌊 Mrs. Cahoon Beach lover at heart ☀️🏖️, mama to five kiddos and one sweet grandbaby!
